Grupo Sicelub Lubritech has been working in Renewables Energy since some years ago. We have performed services in Wind Turbines in Argentina and Brazil, and now, we continue working with Steam Turbines in Concentrated Solar Power Plant Industry. We have just finalized a service in Spain.

Solar Energy can be generated by two different processes. You probably are more familiar with photovoltaic cells, where energy from sun is directly converted into an electrical current.

There are other plants, called Concentrated Solar Plants (CSP) where Energy from sun is used to Heat up a fluid (hot oil) that is used to generate steam and move a steam turbine. This is the case of our recent service in Spain. We performed a filtration Service to a lubricating oil system of more of 6,000 Gallons of Oil in a very important Plant in Andalucía, Spain. The job was in a Nuovo Pignone Steam Turbine of 50 Mw.

The Service started when we drained the oil to an external tank, performed filtration until reach a lower ISO 4406 Code. We cleaned the oil reservoir and filled with filtered oil. Then, when oil started to circulate by the entire system, we continued with the filtration until reach ISO 16/14/12.

Using this procedure, we secured a safe start up of the turbine, and more reliable operation until the next turnaround, according to best practices recommended by ASTM D-4378.

On this jow, we had 2 field technicians, a filtration skid of 80 GPM using filter elements 34” length.

We also applied a high standard safety procedure to enter in the confined space, gas detector, fans for having fresh air. Beyond technical knowledge in lubrication, we are also specialist in Safety and Environmental.

In last months, our Company in Spain, Sicelub Ibérico, has performed several high velocity flushing services in different rotating equipment in a very important Refinery in Spain. Historically, we haven’t performed services in that Refinery because logistic conditions that increased our cost. During 2022, we put actions in place to improve these conditions and being more competitive. We have hired high qualified technician there and optimized our freight costs.

We have performed services in centrifugal compressor, air compressor and reciprocating compressor.

  • Centrifugal Compressor in Lubricants Plant. The system had high cleanliness and particles, we started with ISO Codeo f 22/21/17 and just in 26 hours of Flushing we were able to get ISO 16/14/11.

  • Air Compressor in Auxiliary Services Plant. This system was in a maintenance tournaround and a flushing was performed. We used Re > 000 and performed the cleaning just in 12 hours, decreasing the ISO Code from 23/22/16 down to 16/15/12. We also performed Flushing in the coolers.

  • Reciprocating Compressor in Coker Unit. The system had problems related to metals, and during the Flushing we improved from 23/22/21 down to 15/13/9, in les of 24 hours, including cleaning of coolers.

Since we were present in the refinery, we were able to sampling critical equipment and provide good information to our customer for their predictive maintenance agenda.

Commercial Management was performed by José Julián Gómez, and Operative Job oversaw by Aitor García, with our field technicians Javier Villar and Stan Ursaki. Our administrative and EHS staff supported the team in the field.

We would like to say thanks to our customer and recognize the job of our team. You can see some pictures below!

Our Company, Lubritech Perú participated in the 22nd Conference of Engineering in Maintenance between Nov 17th and 19th in Lima, Peru. During this event, Lubritech Peru had a booth for introducing their solutions to the customers, and presented two interesting technical topics. A lot of attendants were present in the Conference and in our presentations.

Friday, Nov 18th, Mr. Cristian Schmid presented the topic “Varnish in Lubricating and Control Systems in Turbines” and Saturday Nov 19th, Mr. Roberto Romero presented the topic “Introduction to Oil Mist Lubrication”.

Both topics were very interesting for the attendants. Oil Mist started with its application in Peruvian Market recently with excellent results in Refineries, and varnish is a topic with high interest nowadays. The customers were looking for preventing and removing varnish techniques.

Our team in Perú was María Teresa, Marcos Meza, José Alejandro Zavala, Carlos Arévalo, Luis Yovera, Roberto Romero y Cristián Schmid.

We would like to say thanks to our employees customers and specially to IPEMAN for this opportunity to participate in this event.

We share with you some pictures and videos of this event!
